Greetings from St Nicholas Players
Imagine it is 1963. Gordon Bewley and Jean Goodwin, both well known in amateur dramatics in Derbyshire, aware of the talented choir and congregation at St Nicholas Church Allestree, sowed the seeds of an annual production of a pantomime in the newly completed church hall.
Hence the name St Nicholas players! With Stan Griffiths and the support of Gordon and Jean, I was the joint producer of ‘Cinderella’ in 1964.
The 2010 production of ‘Puss in Boots ‘ has been written by our long serving musical director Phil Wensley; earlier performances of this title were in 1969 and 1988, but Phil’s script and music are bang up-to-date .
The production is being staged from the 22nd January to the 6th February 2010 in the church hall, Allestree Lane. Tickets have been held at 2009 prices; £6 for adults and £4 for concessions.
Information on performances can be found on the tickets section of our web-site. Do come along and help us continue to support local children’s charities
Regards
Phil Mason
